POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for software design and development of product features on complex embedded systems. Work as a part of a team for full software development life cycle. Requirements include Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience (MS preferred); minimum 6-15 years direct software design and development experience on embedded systems applications in data communications and/or telecommunications using C++ on VxWorks, pSOS, embedded Linux or any other RTOS. Exposure to optical domain (SONET/SDH/DWDM) and Ethernet preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop embedded C++ software on CoreDirector family of optical switches, including maintenance of existing software, development of new features, and support of new hardware.
Participate in all stages of software development, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, test, and maintenance.
Responsible for communication with Software, Hardware, Integration and Test, System Engineering, Validation, and Manufacturing teams throughout the design and development cycle.
SKILLS
Strong C++ and object oriented design skills
Experience working with a large code base (systems with more than 10 software developers working at a time on the same code base).
Proficient developing software on multi-processor, highly concurrent systems (good knowledge of mutual exclusion, synchronization, interrupt handling, inter-process communication, etc.)
Must be fast learner with excellent debugging skills.
Prefer telecommunications experience, particularly in
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS
Must be able to travel to United States for extended periods of time (up to 3 months) with advanced notice
Independent self starter and committed to delivering on aggressive deadlines.
Comfortable in a team environment with ability to lead or to work with little supervision
