Job Details:
The ideal candidate will function as a Microsoft SQL DBA, participating in the design and implementation of databases and applications that can support the ongoing company growth. Administer, maintain, and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the availability, security and integrity of the SQL databases. Assist in developing and administering backup and recovery procedures. Ability to work in a team environment is essential.
Requirement
1. Providing production support of large, 7X24 SQL databases with rotating on-call duties after hours.
2. Troubleshooting Production problems and working effectively with other team members to identify and address problems.
3. Scripting for database monitoring and to automate routine tasks.
4. Performing data analysis to provide management with timely and accurate information.
5. Performing data management tasks as required loading, editing, restoring and removing data at the requests of our clients.
6. Researching, testing and coordinating Microsoft SQL Server patches/upgrades.
7. Tuning of SQL code and assisting developers in writing and tuning SQL queries.
8. Testing of new features or 3rd party tools.
9. Interacting with Microsoft SQL 2000, 2005 support to resolve issues.
10. Logical and physical database design.
Essential
1. Expert knowledge of SQL 2000, 2005.
2. Expert knowledge of Windows clustering.
3. Expert knowledge of SQL and Quest Lightspeed backups.
4. Expert knowledge of Perl.
5. Experience using Quest Spotlight monitoring tools.
