"Qualifications: Ideal candidate needs to have 8 or more years experience supporting mainframe network infrastructure in a very large I. T. environment. BS in Computer Science, MIS or related field also required. Requires strong VTAM/IP design skills. Must have near-expert level
knowledge of recent releases of the IBM Communications Server product (VTAM), hands-on experience with TCP/IP on the mainframe and understand OSPF. Experience with Advanced Peer to Peer Networking (APPN), Dependent LU Requester/Server (DLUR/S), Extended Border Node, Enterprise Extender, Generic Resources, IBM 3745s, OSAs, Netview (TME 10), TSO, Unix Systems Services (USS), Network monitoring tools, NCP/SSP/EP software, DVIPA and Sysplex Distributor are all required. Additional skills include familiarity with a wide variety of data transmission applications (Connect:Direct, XCOM, FED BDT and FTP for example), significant experience with session managers, and an understanding of the SMP/E process. Interpersonal and communications skills are essential as the person will spend the majority of the time working in a team environment. Project management, planning skills and the capability to utilize the MS Office suite of products are also a major plus.
